Where every year's payments go
You pay the same total each year. The split changes. Early on, most of it is interest. Later, most of it reduces what you owe. Tap a bar to see that year.

Step 3 · Compare tenures
Same loan, three finish lines
We run your amount and rate over five years shorter and five years longer. Each card shows how the total cost splits between what you borrow and what the lender earns.
Step 4 · Pay a little extra
Small extra payments, real savings
Add a fixed amount on top of your EMI each month and see how much sooner you finish, and how much interest you keep. Your lender may charge for part-prepayment, so check the terms first.
Step 5 · Check your comfort
Will this EMI fit your income?
Many lenders look for total monthly EMIs below half of take-home pay. Enter your income and existing EMIs to see how this loan fits, and how much you could borrow.

Questions people ask us
Still unsure about a figure? Our advisors can compare real offers from several lenders side by side, at no cost to you.
Ask an advisor01Is the EMI on this page my final EMI?
No. It is an estimate based on the amount, rate and tenure you enter. Lenders set the final rate after checking your profile, so their figures can differ.
02Why does most of my early EMI go to interest?
Interest is charged on the balance you still owe. At the start that balance is at its highest, so the interest part of each instalment is largest. As the balance falls, more of each payment reduces the principal.
03Do processing fees appear in these numbers?
No. Processing fees, insurance, valuation and stamp duty are not included. Add them to your total cost when you compare offers.
04What changes with a floating rate?
A floating rate moves with the lender's benchmark. Your EMI may rise or fall, or the lender may keep the EMI and change the tenure instead. Use the rate slider to test a higher rate.
